We left Wells Nevada Last Thursday May 3rd Headed to Dillon Montana for a 5 Day Family Get Together for Our Grandsons Graduation
from Western Montana College in Dillon Montana and a little Fishing, weather permitting. Nothing like killing two birds with one stone so the saying goes. We took our Jayco Designer and F250 Super Duty. The weather on the way was not as bad as expected. We drove 50 to 60 mph and we got there early evening about 10 hours stopping for fuel and something to eat along the way, as well as a few potty breaks. We tied up on private property at a vacation rental that the Kids had reserved for 5 days and nights. About $1200 for 10 people. We parked the 5th wheel and got set up for dry camping. It was cloudy and cold. The Vacation Rental House was very nice with lots of amenities and a huge deck with a fire pit in the center of it. It was on the Banks of the Beaver head River. We parked the 5th Wheel by a detached garage next to the river and the back yard of the House. Continue reading
Farther North Not Rain Snow Sleet or Hail
On our last Trip we went from Yuma Arizona to Wells Nevada 700 Miles. It took us 14 hours. Normally I would stay over night around Las Vegas, But I felt good and a storm was
coming so wanted to get to our Summer Home. We left Temperatures in Yuma as High as 103 deg F a few days before we left to Temps in the 20’s and 30’s in Wells Nevada. The trip was uneventful and we took our time. A few patches of snow along the way and we had rain and sleet from Ely NV all the way to Wells NV. Continue reading
Time to Head North to Cooler Country
It’s that time of Year and it is getting warmer everyday. Had a couple of days here in Yuma Arizona that were in the triple digits. It was 103 deg F
on my patio yesterday afternoon. Today has been a little cooler in the 90’s. We have been loading up the 5th wheel and getting it ready to Roll tomorrow Morning. Heading for the high mountains of Nevada to our summer home. I really did not want to leave this early, because I normally don’t head north until the last of May first of June. We have a Grandson who is graduating from College in Dillon Montana on the 5th of May. Called one of our sons and he opened up our house in Nevada today and turned on the water for us.We will spend a few days in Nevada and then on to Montana. I hope it warms up some more although daytime temps have been as high as 70 But freezing at night. I don’t like the cold. Continue reading

Nevada’s Loneliest Road
I had a reader of my Blog asking me about the Loneliest Road somewhere in Nevada. She had read a story about someone in a RV being stranded out in the middle of nowhere. She asked if I had ever been in that predicament and if it was fun or scary. Since Nevada is my home state I guess I can comment on it for her. There is a Highway in Nevada called the
Loneliest Road in America. It is Highway 50 spanning the state from Between Lake Tahoe in the west and Great Basin National Park on the East at the Utah border, US-50 crosses more than 400 miles of Nevada’s Scenic country, climbing up and over a dozen mountain ranges while passing through four mining towns and the state capital, at Carson City. It parallels the old Pony Express route. Continue reading
When a Third World Came West Interview
This is a Comment taken from my other Blog Site. It is from a Lady who wanted to interview me about camping. Below are her Questions and My Answers.
When a Third World Came West on said:Edit
Hi there, do you camp? I am doing a story on different
kinds of camping and would love to interview you! Is it possible to answer these questions?
Please write as much as you like!!
1. How big is your RV?
2. How do you pick the places for where you will park it? What are these places like? How much space is usually in between you and other campers?
3. Does your RV extend out? If so, by how much? What does this allow you to do?
4. How far (mile-wise) does a full tank of gas get you?
5. Are you able to completely cook inside? Do you have bbq’s or make meals outside, perhaps at a camp ground?
6. Are you able to meet other campers? Is there a different kind of camping community of which you are apart?
7. Has living in an RV changed the way you socialize/meet with friends? Continue reading
Group sues Nevada State Parks over volunteer flap
Group sues Nevada State Parks over volunteer
flap Volunteers at Nevada’s Spring Mountain Ranch State Park feel they’ve got a face-slap from the park department. Theyre stinging badly enough they’ve filed suit over the matter.

Mels RV Reflections
Today I was reflecting back while browsing some of my old posts. I found one about Good Sam ERS emergency Road Service, called Good Sam ERS Good or Bad I have had Good Sam for Many Years now and their ERS was tops until that time. It was in 03 of 2010 when I made the post and I think that Good Sam was going through some pretty bad times Because their service was going down hill fast. In June of 2011 I had the opportunity to use their ERS Service again When I almost totaled my 5th wheel. This Time it was a different story and Good Sam was very helpful. I guess maybe they had a change of management or something, because the service was a far cry from when I used it before. I almost quit them, but am glad that I kept the service as it really paid off this time. Funny how things change with time.
Arizona State Parks May Get Relief
The State Parks system has been subject to periodic
legislative fund sweeps dating back to 2003. Since 2007, staffing has decreased by 40% and operating funds have shrunk by half, to $19.5 million dollars this year. Even some of the funds generated by the system itself ($15.5 million in park generated revenues since 2009) have been swept into the general fund.
What To Pack For Your First RV Vacation
New To RVing? What To Pack For Your First RV
Vacation. Packing for an RV trip is like moving into an empty house or apartment. Kitchen cabinets are bare, bathrooms are empty and bedding needs to be stocked. The task of packing can be overwhelming, especially if you are a first-time RVer.
